Commissions are Open

Thank you for your interest in my paintings!
I’m thrilled you want to learn more about the commission process.
If you love my work but haven’t seen anything that is just right for your space, or maybe it’s already sold, you can commission me to paint an original. We can work together to discuss colors, size, and the right feeling for your piece. I’ve got quite a few under my belt. So, I have developed this guide for you to get an idea of the process.
Getting Started
The commission process begins with a discussion about what you’re looking for.
You can choose from a variety of sizes & orientations to fit your space. If you’re not sure of your perfect size: Try taping craft paper or newspaper to your wall or block out the size with painters tape. This gives you a way to visualize the impact the piece might have. Orientation can either be landscape, square or portrait.
Think of the content of the painting. What do you want it to look like? Choose 1-2 inspiration paintings from my website to illustrate what you are looking for.
Now we can talk about COLOR! Do you need to include a specific color or color palette? Do you want the same palette as a piece on my site or Instagram? Let’s talk about it! For specific colors, you can provide color samples for me to hang next to your painting while it’s in progress!
Finally we can talk surface! You can choose from either Fine Art Archival Quality Paper or stretched canvas. Canvas pieces arrive ready to hang and offer a stunning impact in a space. Paper pieces look great in frames & are priced in order to offset framing costs.
Just a side note: I do not do representational people portraits.
The Business Side
Commissions are booked sometimes months in advance in order to accommodate the workflow of my studio, other commissions, my exhibition schedule and current gallery obligations. As much lead time as possible is appreciated. If you’ve got a tight timeframe, we can always discuss whether or not it can be accommodated. Just reach out to me.
A fifty percent non refundable deposit & signed commission contract are needed to reserve your space on the Commission Calendar. You pay half up front and the remaining half plus shipping when the piece is complete. The contract protects your investment, my investment in the project and insures you receive the art you are looking for!
Note: Commission paintings on saws or any other substrate besides canvas or paper requires 100% non-refundable payment before I start.
I work with a few local shippers to get you the best price.
Returns are not accepted. The 50% deposit is nonrefundable. After all, this piece is specific to you. Down payments protect artists from investing labor without pay. The deposit covers my costs: some time spent on the piece & expensive materials. This is an industry standard policy.
