“When I think of art, I think of beauty. Beauty is the mystery of life. It is not in the eye, it is in the mind. In our minds there is an awareness of perfection.”
~Anges Martin
Leaving an indelible mark on the landscape of tomorrow.
Studio Gardens.
I call the gardens which are just outside of my art studio “Studio Gardens” . My family and I live nestled in a wooded plot of land far away from the city lights where there are a million stars shining brightly and the moon smiles down.
I’ve worked on these magical gardens for the twenty years that we’ve lived here. They’ve evolved as I have evolved.
I’ve been an avid gardener all of my life. First, surrounded by gardens that my mother created and my grandpa before her. In some way, my gardens have always influenced my art.
Growing up, I always felt nurtured by plants, trees and flowers. I feel it’s only natural for me to try and share that nurtured feeling through my art.
Nurturing
I am an expressionist painter. Sometimes I paint realistically, sometimes abstractly.
I’ve always had a fascination with mood and mystery in this world. For as long as I can remember, it’s drawn me in. Fairy tales, spooky stories, folklore and the moon and the stars are always fueling my creative thoughts. Combining mystery and mystique with natural subjects such as plants, trees and animals is always on my mind whether abstractly or realistically.
Emerging myself in nature and being out in the woods… working with plants and trees… making gardens all around me inside and out is essential for my personal well being. Just that alone feeds my need to create. It’s a way that I feel nurtured and that allows me to be a channel to produce art. Painting the beauty and magic I find in these natural places is my way of sharing that nurtured feeling and is why I create the art I bring to the world.
